I couldn’t be more thrilled to share my experience with the TC8-Marksman. This ready-to-run 1:8 scale trail crawler has quickly become a favorite in my collection, and here’s why.

First off, the TC8-Marksman rides on the impressive Redcat TC8 1:8 scale platform. Featuring XR247 axles, top-notch electronics, and a realistic scale body, it’s a head-turner both on and off the trail. The combination of the RCR-2CENR 2.4GHz radio system, HobbyWing QuicRun WP Crawler 80A ESC, and Holmes Hobbies 13T Crawlmaster 550 brushed motor is a powerhouse. The precision and low-end throttle control make navigating technical trails a breeze.
The ruggedness of this crawler is undeniable. The heavy-duty gears in the single-speed transmission, MOD1 gears in the centrally-mounted divorced transfer case, and the XR247 heavy-duty trussed axle housings ensure it can handle serious abuse. The adjustable slipper clutch and robust 550 size 13T Crawlmaster brushed motor deliver power and wheel speed necessary to conquer stubborn obstacles.
The chassis design of the TC8-Marksman is a standout feature. The ladder-type frame rails, coupled with the ability to adjust the wheelbase, provide stability and customization. The 3-link suspension up front and the 4-link suspension in the rear, along with the 100mm long-travel aluminum-body shocks, offer exceptional performance and stability.
The attention to detail in scale appearance is impressive. LED-ready headlights, off-road light buckets, a realistic-looking non-functional winch, rock sliders, and a spare tire mount add to the authenticity. The scrape away paint system revealing a rusty metal look beneath adds a unique touch and encourages a bit of trail-induced wear and tear.
The Hexfly high-torque 25kg digital steering servo ensures accurate and consistent steering. Paired with the officially licensed INTERCO SS-M16 hybrid performance off-road tires on Raceline Avenger wheels, this crawler not only looks great but performs exceptionally well on various surfaces.
While the TC8-Marksman is undeniably a high-quality performance trail crawler, it goes the extra mile with additional scale details. The injection-molded plastic driver’s head with a cowboy hat allows for personalization, making it more than just a vehicle; it’s a character on the trail.
In conclusion, the TC8-Marksman has exceeded my expectations as a trail crawler. It’s a versatile and rugged machine that delivers both performance and scale realism. Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or a newcomer to the RC world, the TC8-Marksman is a fantastic addition to any collection. Happy crawling!
